I’m often receiving emails from couples of honeymoon wondering what happens next. Here are all the details:
I shoot every wedding with two cameras, and there are a 2 32GB SD cards in each camera at a time – both cards are storing the RAW file. I am extra careful incase of card corrosion. I often start backing up you wedding photos during the meal because I am that cautious, but often I will get home and back up as soon as I get in before sleep. The RAW files are then stored on two separate hard drives as well as on my computer. I place the SD cards in a safe place until I finish editing.
I often cull the very next day, only if I’m out shooting the next day will I leave it past 24 hours. I find it important to help remember certain moments and makes the culling process more effective. I will do a final check to ensure I haven’t missed any gems and to make sure your aunts eyes are open on the family portrait!
Once I’ve culled, I import them to Lightroom (linked to photoshop) and add a preset which is according to my style. The preset adds to the colour – I have used the same one for three years!
I then go through all the images to colour correct, straighten, exposure correction, dodging, burning and other things to make the images gel as a set. Once I’m happy I export them as High Res Jpegs. Before I do the entire I set I do about 20 images for a sneak peek and then continue to edit the whole set.
Then I upload the full set to Pixieset, where you get your own wedding photo gallery. I change the url to your names, then send you the link!
Once on PixieSet I also save the set to my hard drives. I think it’s important for you both to have had at least a month between your wedding and receiving your photos – it’s something to look forward to if you experience Wedding blues and also is a more enjoyable experience (lots have been swiping through the Insta pictures from the day for a week!). Alongside your gallery you will receive a box that looks just like this:
Often I’ll blog the wedding, as this is how I can continue to book weddings by showcasing my work. Sometimes wedding blogs will contact and ask to feature the wedding – a massive compliment all around,
That’s not the end though, I still talk to most of my wedding clients through social media – mainly Instagram.
