Lake Como Wedding, Italy
Kat & Liam’s wedding day was so memorable and unique to everyone involved. Both Kat and Liam were born in Scotland but immigrated to Australia when they were young, their dads worked together in Aus, and the pair bumped into each other as children playing on the beach. They met while studying in Australia before deciding to move back to the UK together. They chose to wed in Italy as all families had to take a flight and what better than to have an extended holiday with their families. The couple had their Stag & Hen nights before the wedding on Lake Como which coincided with the worst thunderstorm in history (which I was trying to land in – but that’s a different story).
The flowers by Il Profumo Dei Fiori were stunning and honestly smelt amazing if only scents were captured along with the images. The team set up the decor at the ceremony and reception which was a 20-minute boat in between.
There were Scottish elements to the day; kilts, Scottish whiskey at groom prep and the only Ceilidh band in Italy.
Kat is an event planner, so planning her wedding came naturally. She wanted to organise the day herself and used the world as her inspiration for their seating plan. Their love for travel was evident throughout the day with private speedboats transporting the couple and families across the lake for different parts of their wedding day.
The ceremony took place in the town of Varenna on the East side of Lake Como at the Villa Cipressi. The venue has a stunning view and offers a quieter place to admire the lake. The venue has a pier just next door so it’s very easy to access the hotel via the water.
Kat chose an amazing vintage bridal gown from Brighton Vintage accompanied by a veil by Oui the label, an Australian bridal brand.
“ After browsing Instagram to find the perfect photographer for our Italy-based wedding, we came across Lucie and fell in love with her beautiful, light photography style. Her enthusiasm for our destination wedding was so amazing and after receiving our beautiful engagement photos, we were so confident that Lucie would be able to capture our day perfectly.
We were lucky enough to have both Lucie and her partner Jamie photograph our day so we were able to capture double the shots.
We received previews of our wedding only a couple of days later which was such a lovely surprise and then the rest of our photos less than 3 weeks after the wedding which was amazing!
Our family and friends have all commented on how beautiful the photos are, we can’t stop looking through them!
Lucie and Jamie – we cannot thank you enough for capturing our day perfectly!” Kat & Liam
