If you’re planning your wedding day at Kew Gardens, Mik and Nick’s wedding day is a great example of a blue skied day at Kew, London.
As a Kew Gardens wedding photographer, I adore capturing love stories amongst Nature. I am an avid gardener myself so Kew really is the dream setting for me.
My developing knowledge of flowers and plants throughout all seasons really helps to maximise portraits at Kew as well, though the staff at Kew are wonderful sharing their expertise too! I have explored the grounds many times, whether it’s on wedding days, engagement shoots, proposals (!), the winter illuminations walk or even for a family day out with an afternoon tea. I have explored the gardens in all seasons which makes me the ideal photographer to capture your story at Kew.
On this occasion, I worked with the wonderful Rachel Dalton Weddings who planned the day perfectly. My husband, Jamie was the second shooter on the day capturing wonderful memories for the couple all day alongside the real couple Videographers – 24078.

Bridal Prep at the Harbour Hotel
Mikayla began her wedding morning at the quintessentially English Harbour Hotel in Richmond, the perfect location for a relaxing prep whilst not having to travel too far to Kew Gardens. The suite had beautiful Georgina bay windows which poured with sunlight, the ideal spot for some relaxed portraits with her mother before her ceremony.
The wonderful team at Storme Makeup and Hair pampered the whole bridal group in a seperate room whilst Mik was able to get ready in the suite with her mum. It was such a calming experience, if you have a large group I would highly recommend having a room which you can retreat to when necessary.
Mik’s dress was designed by Mark Ingram Atelier and had a removable jacket to add some variety throughout the day.

Wedding Portraits at Kew Gardens
After the ceremony, we captured relaxed couple portraits across Kew Gardens. By the time the ceremony had finished in September there was beautiful, soft light – perfect for wedding portraits. Our main focus was the lake infront of the Palm House, the Palm House itself and Waterlily house which was a special spot for the couple.
“Kew Gardens holds a special place in our hearts. Three days after moving to London from the United States, we visited Kew with no expectations […] we found ourselves wandering into the lily pad greenhouse, we were swept away by the magic of the place.”
For couples planning a Kew Gardens wedding, the variety of areas you are offered for couple portraits is incredible. There are endless opportunities for timeless wedding photography – come rain or shine with the variety of indoor and outdoor areas.

The Ceremony in the Nash Conservatory
The Nash Conservatory is beautiful blank canvas of a greenhouse, I have seen it decorated in lots of different ways. Mikayla and Nik opted to honour Mik’s Jewish heritage with a Chuppah with flowers that flowed into the aisle beautifully by Blue Sky Flowers. The ceremony was officiated by Tamryn and there was an extra special touch – the mothers both shared readings which included their own wisdom.

The reception at The Orangery
Following the ceremony at The Nash Conservatory, the Portraits with both families and the private couple portraits we travelled over to he Princess of Wales conservatory where Mik and Nik enjoyed some time with their guests. As the sun was starting to set it was time to walk over to the Orangery for an evening of good food, bubbles and plenty of dancing accompanied by entertained by Sternberg Clarke.
