My favourite ceremony wedding songs as a Relaxed Wedding Photographer.
One of my wonderful 2020 brides asked me the other day what songs I have heard when my couples walk down the aisle. It got me thinking about my day as a relaxed wedding photographer and what I listen to while I am capturing precious moments. Music is such an essential aspect of a wedding day; I look at photographs and remember the songs being played at that moment in time. But not only that, music is an enjoyable part of the day – I’m sure everyone can remember the iconic scene in Love Actually?!
In short: The songs that always work best are those that are personal to the couple and work well with the tempo of the walk. It also has to fit your wedding vibe; if you want a super relaxed ceremony you will want the songs to go with it.
With some help from Aimée (interior designer/branding extraordinaire/Spotify playlist collator) and Jamie, who plays bass in the wedding band Sink the Beat. We came up with the perfect playlist for walking down the aisle to. Even if these songs aren’t the ones for you, it may spur you on to making the right choice. We listened to so many, which helped us get more ideas, so I do recommend you give the entire playlist a listen for an afternoon during a lockdown.
Lucie’s Top Ceremony Song Choices:
Walking down the aisle can be quite daunting, it’s important you have a song you can walk to with a good pace. If you want a slow-paced song which will allow you to try take in the moment fully I’d suggest – What a Wonderful World – Thomas Law. There is something so lovely about an acoustic classic, the song would most definitely make me feel relaxed as a wedding photographer capturing the moment.
For a faster-paced song I would recommend Africa – Tyler Ward. I love the piano version of this song, it would certainly get you walking down the aisle at a quicker speed.
Having an uplifting, upbeat song for walking hand in hand as newlyweds is the best exit you could ask for. As a Relaxed Wedding Photographer I can capture all the good vibes with some great cheering from the guests.
